Tin Brook Project
Walden, NewYork
Visions begin in the wholesome reality of what we can create for future generations to partake in and explore. Where there is potential there is always a reason to cultivate an environment that is suitable for those future generations. The Tin Brook project, started by Raymond David Cummings III, was the offspring thought that one day his children would be able to walk down the street and fish for a sustainable population of trout right here in the Village of Walden, within the Town of Montgomery. For many sportsman familer to the sport, this is a dream come true! Further north there are places like Roscoe, NY known for their notarity of such adventures. Our goal is to do just that. As these last few years have passed that initial thought has evolved into a continual Spring stocking of the Tin Brook in an effort to create a carry over population of trout that would warrant it’s future success through the State of New York.
This year we are fortunate to have the students of Walden Elementary School involved through the program “Trout In The Classroom,” headed locally by George Hoeffner . His teacher to pupil led hatchery has been an incredible success! As a field trip, he and his students will be venturing down to Woosters Grove to partake in the stocking of the Tin Brook, as well as participate in many learning stations focused around the importance of conservation and the understating of the habitates that foster that ideal.
